The natural hot springs and on-site spa set it apart, especially with the option of private baths, but don't expect flawless service or cuisine. Its location suits travelers eager to explore Arashiyama's sights and transport links, making it a solid, if not outstanding, choice for experiencing Kyoto.”

Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Kadensho, reopening in 2026, is appreciated for its location right across from Arashiyama station, providing excellent access to the Arashiyama area and other sights reachable by train. Guests often enjoy the blend of traditional and Western elements in the spacious rooms and the tatami flooring throughout the hotel. A highlight for many is the variety of onsen experiences, including five private onsens available 24/7, as well as public options with both indoor and open-air baths; some found the check-in process and amenities arrangement could be improved. The availability of free amenities like mini-ice cream after onsen visits, yukata rentals, and late-night ramen are also commonly mentioned perks.

Acceptable Stay, But Could Improve

poor service bad food
The hotel is in a fantastic location very near the train station.
The service felt somewhat lacking (not the usual Japanese standard) . I found the dinner to be the worst part of my visit. The food and service were not up to par with my previous experiences in Japan.
